A Reflection On A Year

It’s almost time for me to take my annual social media / blog sojourn for the festive season. But before I go, I wanted to sign off with a little something I wrote for the end of the year.

I felt it was quite fitting not just for myself, but also for many people close to me in my life who have had a bit of a challenging time these last 12 months.

May I therefore take this opportunity to wish you all a safe, happy and peaceful Christmas. Be kind to yourselves and others, and spend time doing what brings you joy and comfort. Speak to you all in 2026.

A Reflection On A Year
By Alex MacGregor

Sitting here
At the end of another year
Wondering where the time has gone

So much has changed
And even though I wanted to hold on
I have had to let to go

Life is full of meetings and partings
And full of things I know
I am not in control of

But history has taught me that
Whenever the chips have been down
I have got back up again

Life has taught me lessons
That I am grateful for
And helped me find strength I didn’t know I had

And next year I will take
These lessons gently forward and make
The best that I can bring to the world

But for now, it is time to slow down
To adopt the pace of nature
With quiet time to reflect and regroup

And to feel proud of all I have achieved
However big or small
Not giving up in spite of it all

For when it comes down to it
It’s the moments of joy and warmth
That really matter and we hold in our hearts.
